Welcome to Sea Turtles class page
Hello! We are the Seahorses class of Colkirk Primary academy.
We are a mixed Year 5 and 6 class with 3 girls and 8 boys. We are taught by Mrs Northern.
Last term our topic was from Stone Age to Bronze Age:
We had great fun learning about the lives of the early Britons. We made ‘flint’ axes and found microliths in the school garden.
We read Stig of the Dump and created miniature Stonehenges.
We also learnt about how important Norfolk was in the Stone Age, culminating in a trip to Lynn Museum to discover the mysterious Seahenge.
This term out topic is the human body:
Already we have learnt about the circulation of the blood and the digestive system. We have made our own ‘blood’ – mostly out of Cheerios and marshmallows!
We have also modelled the digestive system in clay, learning about the functions of all the different parts along the way.
Seahorses go on lots of exciting trips:
This year we have visited the Houses of Parliament - seeing a demonstration in Whitehall and a fly-past by the Red Arrows too!
We have been to the Faizan E Madina Mosque in Peterborough and to the Lynn Museum.
Very soon we are going to Norwich Cathedral for a science day and about half the class are travelling to France for a 5-day residential which includes a day in Eurodisney.
Houses of Parliament.
